With decades of leasing experience, our dedicated team have handled a wide range of complex charters. ACS Leasing provides wet, damp, dry, and hybrid lease contacts to airlines around the world.

Whether it’s helping operators meet seasonal and unexpected demand, or sourcing alternative aircraft when the operator’s become grounded and helping them avoid hefty delay costs, our team offer forward-thinking strategic and operational support for emergency capacity requirements. Take a look here at some of our most complex lease contracts, which demonstrate how we’ve helped our customers get their aircraft, cargo, or passengers back in the air.

Back-up aircraft for the busy Canadian summer season

Expecting a high demand during the Caribbean’s busy summer period, a major Canadian Airline got in touch to ask us to help them lease a back-up aircraft to cover flights from Toronto to the Caribbean. With no guarantees as to how much business would actually be flown, the client needed us to negotiate the best position for both parties.

We contacted an operator with whom we already had several leasing contracts in place for the summer, who were keen to work together on this forward-thinking project. We brokered a lease for an Airbus A320, and the summer was a success, with the aircraft flying a substantial amount of block hours during the season. Supplementing the client’s fleet meant that we minimised passenger delays and inconvenience, whilst also driving revenue for the lessor during the low season in their own market.

Our brilliant relationships with the lessor meant that we could quickly broker the lease at a great price for both parties.

Going tech in Reykjavík

After an aircraft developed a technical issue in Reykjavík, a leading global low-cost airline got in touch to arrange an urgent wet lease solution to provide cover for a transatlantic route. They also requested the transport of a replacement engine to the grounded aircraft in Reykjavík. With a tight deadline and an eye on the client’s budget, the team quickly sourced a B747.

Thanks to our close, collaborative relationship with the B747 operator, we were able to negotiate the lease agreement quickly and position the aircraft so that the client’s own aircraft could be repaired during the wet lease agreement. While the new engine was fitted, the wet lease was extended for another two sectors, carrying 1,920 passengers in total.

Moving grounded post office shipments during the Covid-19 pandemic

With long-haul and transatlantic cargo flights grounded globally during the Covid–19 pandemic, ACS Leasing was instrumental in the transport of critical cargo. In 2020, a passenger airline tasked us with leasing a cargo aircraft for 13 months on behalf of their national post office, who needed urgent shipments between the post office’s European base, New York, and Asia.

ACS Leasing had been working with the ACS cargo division throughout 2020, helping to source additional aircraft as demand increased when scheduled services were suspended during the pandemic, meaning that our experts were familiar with the cargo market.

The team quickly sourced an Airbus A330-200P3F, an auxiliary freighter which was perfect for carrying the client’s large shipments.

Keeping an airline’s schedule on track when their aircraft was grounded

When their aircraft became grounded after it had been struck by a flock of birds, a low-cost carrier asked us to help them lease a replacement for five days. With just three hours until the next scheduled flight, we sprung into action to find a solution in order to prevent costly delays to the airline’s schedule.

Our specialist team worked late into the evening and sourced a B737-800 within hours of the enquiry coming in. The aircraft was located near the operator’s base and could be ready to position fully crewed within just 90 minutes’ notice, minimising disruption to their flight schedule despite the last-minute nature of the request.

The client also asked us to arrange the crew’s hotel accommodation and air travel. Our dedicated travel department quickly confirmed hotel bookings and transfers, relieving the strain on the client’s operations team and leaving them extremely satisfied with our overall service recovery.
